Nature Lovers and Adventurers Unite! Whether you are exploring by land or by sea, Alaska’s unspoiled landscape, majestic wildlife, and rich history are sure to have you planning your next visit before your first one is even over. And almost two-and-a-half times the size of Texas, you will have plenty to explore!
The Great Outdoors
Arriving in Alaska feels like stepping into a movie. In every direction you turn, there are absolutely stunning views. It is hard to believe that it is real! With so many different regions, it can also be hard to choose where to begin. To make it easier, we have put together a few of our must-do activities! If you are not afraid of a little adventure, you can:
- Hop in a helicopter and fly alongside bald eagles to get a better view of just how immense and varied Alaska is
- Hike or Bike through the backcountry with a guided tour through some of the most incredible trail systems
- Take to the water and go whitewater rafting or kayaking through gigantic icebergs, glaciers, and fjords!

Want a better look at the grandeur of Alaska without trekking the terrain? You can book a day cruise! Take in the breathtaking shoreline and catch a life-changing glimpse of some of the most magnificent aquatic animals, like giant humpback whales, orca, or sea lions and otters. You might even see a few of Alaska’s many bears walking along the shore on the hunt for fish.
Captivating Culture
With over 10,000 years of human history, there is much to learn and experience in Alaska. In fact, there is so much that there are sixty museums and cultural centers throughout the state! Be sure to immerse yourself in the incredible stories, arts, music, traditions, and beliefs of the Alaska Native Peoples! If you plan to visit in June, you can even spend a few days in a “remote boreal forest” learning how to make your own traditional piece of art at The Folk School in Fairbanks!
Light Up the Night
In September through mid-April, Alaska offers the best light show you could ever imagine! During this time, the Northern Lights are more visible and put on an awe-inspiring dance of multi-colored light across the sky. But if you are visiting any other time of year, you can still “light up the night” and throw yourself into the local culture by checking out a pub crawl, enjoying some live music and square-dancing, or catching a show at the theater.
